The Wetherby Brides, Book 1--

Miss Phoebe Blake is finally out of mourning for her father, and just in time. She and her mother could be days away from being carted off to debtors prison, so Phoebe returns to society with the intent and determination to secure a rich husband.
Sparks fly when Benjamin and Phoebe meet, and it appears they have both found just what they are looking for. But will a dark secret keep them from finding their happily ever after?

Piece About Books A Gentleman Never Tells (Wetherby Brides #1)
This was such a pleasant read. Benjamin Wetherby started out living in New York as the book opens and he has a mistress. The thing that automatically stood out to me was even though she was his mistress he still had general compassion and respect for her. He could have easily just use her for her purpose but instead was considerate to her needs. At the plea from his mothers letter Benjamin needs to return to England for his father has not much time left. He knows at 26 that it is time to grow up

Read half from the e-book then listen to the rest from audible. The story was just ok. Stretch for to long. And I didn't feel the connection between the H & h.AUDIOBOOK: April 1st 2015Narrator:Sherill Turner she did a fair enough job of it, though didn't like her tone of voice.

Don't Know Where to BeginI can't believe this author ever read a letter written in this time period. She surely never read a social history of the era or she wouldn't have put together the dialogue her characters use. The only plausible part of the plot was that the hero got out of the country after a duel. If the time frame was the early regency, he certainly wouldn't have gone to the states. We were at war with England. I don't want to waste any more time writing a review. I'm not even sure

Vikkis MusingsI found this book on Amazon for free and since I could purchase the audio for an excellent price, decided to give it a read. I had never heard of the author, but this is the first book in the Whetherby Brides series and I normally enjoy sagas a great deal. I am so glad I found A Gentleman Never Tells. I thoroughly enjoyed reading/listening to it.Phoebe Blake is a damsel in distress. Her father died a year ago, and she and her mother are on the verge of losing it all. They barely

Quick, entertaining, read. The stars are for the plot. I like the storyline, but the characters were underdeveloped. I really felt like it needed 100 more pages of intriguing dialogue and a real life picture of these two. Because it was "love in a New York minute" I had a hard time buying into the romance and the chemistry wasn't given time to catch fire. What I did like: It would seem that our Hero Benjamin shot the heroine's father and caused his death. This instantly put me into the story. I

4 stars with reservations. I do have some issues about the angst the characters have been running in circles with, if only they have come~out with the truth then they wouldn't resemble headless chickens running blindly until they finally expire. All that unnecessary anxiety caused by the burden of keeping secrets so much so that it colors and governs all their actions is just too much to bear, that I was thoroughly annoyed with all of them. I compliment the author for getting me so irritated and

This was a very entertaining, fast read. It was essentially a popcorn book but it had a very pleasant story. Boy meets girl, Boy falls in love with girl, Boy killed her father...at least he think he did. I really like Benjamin he portrayed the ultimate regency gentleman and you couldn't help but like Phoebe. All I have to say is Yeah for happy endings.
