Chronicle Toward Books The School Story

Two middle school girls scheme to publish a book in this novel from Andrew Clements, the author of Frindle. Natalie's best friend, Zoe, is sure that the novel Natalie's written is good enough to be published. But how can a twelve-year-old girl publish a book? Natalie's mother is an editor for a big children's publisher, but Natalie doesn't want to ask for any favors. Then Zoe has a brilliant idea: Natalie can submit her manuscript under a pen name, with Zoe acting as her literary agent. But it's not easy for two sixth graders to put themselves over as grown-ups, even with some help from a couple of real grown-ups who are supportive but skeptical. The next bestselling school story may be in their hands—but can Natalie and Zoe pull off their masquerade?

Criticize Regarding Books The School Story
The School Story, Andrew ClementsThe School Story is a children's novel by Andrew Clements, published in 2001. It is about two twelve-year-old girls who try to get a school story published. As the novel begins, twelve-year-old Natalie is almost done writing a novel called The Cheater about a girl and her friends. It is uncommon, if not impossible, for someone her age to get published, but Natalie's best friend, Zoe Reisman, thinks The Cheater is good enough. Natalie wants her mother, Hannah

First read sometime in 2011. 4.5/5 stars because this book rocks.

WOW JUST SO LOVELY!!!! I can't believe NOTHING BAD HAPPENS IN THIS BOOK!!! I also can't believe that I didn't read this as a middle-grade reader, I would've eaten this up and reread it many times.

So, a lot of this is HIGHLY unrealistic. I really don't think kids act this way at all. This dude writes about kids, yet doesn't seem to know much about them. :/ 6th grade girls like Zoe aren't this smart or aggressive. :/ in all honesty, I think 6th grade girls are some of the worst people. Nasty, mean little pubescent brats all obsessed with popularity and makeup because society and their shitty moms push them to grow up to fast...Or that just might be my own bad school experience talking. I

It's no wonder that Andrew Clements books are popular with my students. He assumes that his reading audience is intelligent; he never writes down to kids. The main characters in this story are bright, witty and clever. Terrific book!

Natalie is a gifted writer and is lucky enough to have a tenacious best friend, Zoe, who is intent on getting her book published, and a mother who is a children's book editor. She knows, however, that parental bias would make it very difficult for her to submit her book to her mother for publication. With the help of Zoe and a brave teacher, Natalie attempts to publish under a pen name using a sort-of-fictitious agent (Zoe, pretending to be older and as if she works for a literary agency that
