Relation To Books The New-England Primer: Boston 1777; Patriotic Textbook Series
The single most influential Christian textbook in history, most scholars agree that most, if not all, of the Founding Fathers were taught to read and write using this The New England Primer, which is unsurpassed to this day for its excellence of practical training and Christian worldview. First published in 1690, the goal of the Primer was to combine the study of the Bible with the alphabet, vocabulary, and the reading of prose and poetry. This is the book that introduced the children's prayer, "Now I lay me down to sleep," and which made the "Shorter Catechism" a staple of education for all American children. More than five million copies were sold in the nineteenth century alone.Mention Books In Pursuance Of The New-England Primer: Boston 1777; Patriotic Textbook Series

It's amazing to me that the main focus of education today is to later have a career or to attain a good job, while our country's Fathers' main goal was so that their children would not be deceived by Satan. They taught them to read so that they could read the Bible for themselves (look up the Old Deluder Act of 1647). I had used this book to help my now 6-year-old to read, mainly because all of my other methods had failed. Now, I am convinced that this is the way to go for the remainder of my
READ JAN 2019Fascinating to think this was the principal textbook for colonists and early Americans until the mid 1830's. Not sure how many modern adults would be able to answer some of the 120 questions included in this short piece.
I reviewed two different copies of the NEP... one by Wallbuilders and this copy by Vision Fourm. Of the two this edition is better. They contents are the same but Vision Forum has done a better job with the binding and overall presentation.READ JAN 2019Fascinating to think this was the principal textbook for colonists and early Americans until the mid 1830's.
